Focus:
The ‘Digital Sovereignty by Design’ project aims to identify and address the impacts that the EU’s move to digital sovereignty present for the UK’s cybersecurity landscape. In doing so, it addresses how interaction and competition between stakeholders influence the establishment of regulatory regimes over new technological innovations, or categories of technology, related to digital security and data privacy.
Goals:
It has the following objectives:
engage with current law and policy approaches to cybersecurity in the United Kingdom and in the European Union
identify how the EU’s current shift towards a digital sovereignty approach may negatively impact upon UK private-sector technology providers, in particular microprocessors, and
consider ways in which these negative impacts may be mitigated.
It will organise a roundtable with policy makers working in the field of microprocessors, produce two academic articles and a policy paper, as well as disseminate its findings to policy-makers and academics.
